International Shipping Duties & Taxes
Below is important information about responsibilities and considerations for international shipments of our water cups.
1. Who is responsible for paying duties and taxes?
The recipient (consignee) of the package is liable for any duties, import taxes, or fees imposed by their country’s customs authority. These charges are not included in your order total and must be paid directly to customs upon delivery. They are based on the recipient country’s laws and regulations, not our store’s policies.
2. How much are import duties?
The amount of customs duty varies widely by country and depends on:
- Your country’s tariff policies
- The type of product (e.g., water cups)
- The declared value of the shipment
- Additional factors like weight or material
While we use USPS First Class for international shipping, we cannot predict or control the exact duty amount. Customs authorities determine fees at their discretion.
3. How do we help minimize import taxes?
To assist with potential duty costs, we:
- Default to declaring packages as “gifts” with an invoice value between $20–$150 USD, depending on the order size. This is a common practice to reduce tariff exposure, though approval is at customs’ discretion.
- Offer flexibility for declared values: If you have specific instructions (e.g., higher/lower declaration), contact us at [email protected] before shipping. We will adjust the value according to your request.
4. What if my package has customs issues?
If your shipment is held by customs, we will:
- Provide you with the official shipping invoice to present to customs.
- Cover reasonable customs clearance fees incurred due to errors on our part (e.g., incorrect product descriptions).
- Assist in communicating with USPS to resolve delays or inquiries, though final resolution may depend on local customs cooperation.
Important Notes
- Duty exemption thresholds and rates vary by country. For example, some countries may exempt small packages (e.g., under $100) from duties, while others impose fees on all imports.
- We recommend checking your country’s customs policies before placing an order to understand potential costs.
- Delays due to customs inspections are beyond our control and may extend delivery times.
